Luci wakes up from her dream. Bathed in sweat. Another one of those nightmares. She keeps dreaming of monsters and a sinister figure she calls Epiales. She tries everything to fight her nightmares and finally get a good night's sleep. In doing so, she learns the art of lucid dreaming and has the chance to bring the nightmare creature Epiales to its knees and leave her nightmares behind her once and for all.

Epiales is a sidescrolling action jump-and-run game with a melee combat system. The levels alternate between calm jump-and-run sections and hectic combat sections. The special feature: there is no life bar, but the nightmare meter. This fills up automatically when enemies are nearby and when Luci takes damage. It empties when Luci deals damage. When it fills up, Luci is so panicked that she wakes up and the game is lost.
